One join flow. Every platform. Every device.
Cisco devices want to be the go-to hardware for every meeting platform like Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex. However, joining a meeting was a mess. The experience was inconsistent across platforms, hard to find meeting info, and people in conference rooms were stuck reading instruction sheets on the wall. I redesigned the joining flow across four Cisco devices, working with 12 engineers and a product manager to ship 20+ features.
Role:
UX/UI designer, core meeting experience, field research, interaction design, UI design, sound design, and engineering handoff. Collaborators: Google, Apple, Microsoft, US federal government, Bank of America.
Impact:
Shipped. 20+ features launched. Conversion rate increased 60%.
Scope
Four platforms, multiple devices, one experience. Same logic across Room Bar, tablet, and Board.
Stakeholders involved
A lot of alignment and communication
Currently people do not use it muchWall of instructions nobody read.
Old design
Too many entry points. "Where do I click?"
Redesign
"Less choices, less clicking around, clean and easy to understand."
I said no to app based entry point.
Zoom
Zoom also has constraints on the host key which I needed to consider adding without being too cluttered the home screen.
Teams
Microsoft wanted 2 ways to join a meeting, so I came up with 2 tabs to make it easy to understand and find 2 different ways of joining a meeting
Google
Cisco native Webex
Clear "Find meeting information", which is the same pattern across platforms.
Conversion rate increased 60%, positive feedbacks from sales, PM and engineer lead.
